Las Vegas homes deal with extreme cooling loads — 115°F summer days and west-facing walls that push indoor temps into the 80s even with a working system. If your home is running hot past 3PM, that’s not just an old system. It’s often a sizing or airflow problem that repair alone won’t fix.
We size systems to the actual load — Manual J calculation, not a quick rule-of-thumb guess based on square footage. A correctly sized system cycles properly, dehumidifies well, and lasts longer than an oversized one short-cycling on and off all day.
What makes Las Vegas AC repair different
Las Vegas systems often run longer and harder than systems in milder climates. The desert summer extends roughly April through October, with frequent triple-digit days, and the AC rarely gets a real break. That accelerated runtime is what changes the failure pattern here.
Common heat-related failures include weak capacitors, dirty condenser coils, high amp draw, restricted airflow, refrigerant leaks, and compressor stress. Most of these are catchable during a regular diagnostic before they cascade into something larger.
If your system shows warm air from the vents, a breaker that keeps tripping on startup, ice on the outdoor lineset, or water pooling under the air handler, a real diagnostic is cheaper than guessing. Refilling a leaking system is throwing money away. Resetting a breaker that’s protecting the system from a locked rotor can take out the compressor.
How the EGO diagnostic works
Our diagnostic is a fixed flat price, credited toward the repair if you book the same day, and included free for EGO Shield members. Each visit covers refrigerant charge, superheat and subcooling, static pressure, capacitor microfarads, contactor condition, condensate drain, airflow (CFM), temperature split, and electrical amp draw. Every measurement is documented in a written System Health Report with photos.
Same-day diagnostics are available when you book by 2PM weekdays. EGO is owner-led, with the owner accountable from diagnosis through install. If repair stops making sense (older system, a sizable repair quote, R-22 refrigerant in a leaking system, or repeat repairs in a short window), we show you the math on replacement. We don’t replace systems that can be safely repaired.
Neighborhoods we cover inside Las Vegas
We service Downtown Las Vegas, the Arts District, Winchester, Whitney, and Sunrise Manor.
Older R-22 systems can become expensive to repair when leaks appear, since R-22 has been off the market since 2020 and remaining supply is limited. If you’re looking at a refrigerant repair on an older system, we’ll walk you through the repair-versus-replace math before you commit. A diagnostic credit toward replacement applies if you book within the credit window.
Newer infill homes typically run on R-410A and may be entering a first replacement cycle. A diagnostic before peak season tells you what you’re working with so you’re not making the decision in August.
AC replacement and the 2026 refrigerant change
Clark County has adopted the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code, and R-410A refrigerant is being phased down under federal rules. We install R-454B systems that meet current code requirements.
Three replacement tiers are available, all permit-pulled, all inspection-passed, all warranted in writing: Smart Value System (Oxbox by Trane, 1-year labor warranty), Premium System (Payne by Carrier, 1-year labor warranty, 1-year EGO Shield Membership included), and Elite System (American Standard, 3-year labor warranty, first year of EGO Elite Shield Membership free). Replacement options are quoted flat before work begins.
